ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PH.D. ADMISSION
Must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate marks (or 50% for reserved categories).
- Those with M.Phil. or equivalent qualifications are eligible.
- Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree must have 75% marks or more.
- National-level qualifiers such as NET, GATE, GPAT are exempt from the entrance test.
EXEMPTION FROM ENTRANCE TEST
Candidates are exempted from the entrance test if they:
- Cleared UGC/CSIR-NET, JRF, GATE, CEED, GPAT, ICMR, ICAR.
- Are PU faculty or national/international fellowship awardees.
- Are foreign students meeting English proficiency criteria (IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT scores accepted).
ENTRANCE EXAM PATTERN & SYLLABUS
📌 Paper I (Objective Type)
- Duration: 1 hour
- Marks: 50
- 25 questions on Research Methodology
- 25 questions on Subject Specialization
📌 Paper II (Subjective Type)
- Duration: 2 hours
- Marks: 50
- 4 questions on Research + 4 on Subject
- Attempt 5 questions (at least 2 from each section)
✅ Qualifying Marks:
- Paper I: Minimum 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD)
- Total: 50% overall
- Use of standard calculator allowed (programmable calculators prohibited)
FINAL NOTES
Admission to the Ph.D. programme will be based on:
- Performance in entrance test and interview
- Academic merit (70%) + Interview (30%)
